San Marcos River

A man is arrested over the shooting in San Marcos.

A shooting that occurred over the weekend in San Marcos led to a man's arrest. The suspect, 24-year-old Mario Guillermo Lopez from Austin, has been accused of committing two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Both of which are second-degree felonies. The San Marcos Police Department found and questioned Lopez in connection with the incident, which involved five shots fired downtown near W. Hopkins Street and Guadalupe Street. Two individuals were hit by ricocheting bullets but thankfully only suffered non-life-threatening injuries. According to jail records, Lopez was taken into custody on June 14 and was released later that same day on bond. Read more
